Third year at uni: the summary
Completing my final year of university while working part-time and parenting. Reflecting on the challenges, achievements, and life-changing journey from student to professional web developer.
Completing the Final Chapter
Finally got to process and sit down to write the summary of the third year at uni β the last leg of this great, life-changing journey that university has become. After graduating I jumped into full-time employment, which with the addition of being a parent, leaves no room for much more extra activities. Although I was super happy to finally see the finish line, some part of me was a bit sad that this part of my life is ending.
The Most Challenging Year Yet
The third year was by far the most challenging and the most rewarding at the same time. It included a final major project, a dissertation, and several other demanding units β all while working part-time.
The Final Major Project
My FMP was Haircare Scan, a Vue3 PWA application that helps users identify suitable hair care products by scanning ingredient lists. It became one of the projects Iβm most proud of.
Academic Curriculum
The third year covered a wide range of topics: advanced JavaScript, UX research, and professional practice. Each unit pushed me to think more critically about the code and design decisions I make.
Graduation & New Beginnings
And here I am, a Bachelor of Science and a web developer. Some people say going to uni or a degree is not worth much anymore, but it opened the door to a life and a career Iβve dreamed about. Iβd say itβs very much worth it!
